2x2 stack characters

I don't know who built this. The Brothers-Brick, who are very good at giving credit to original builders, simply say it is spreading virally around the web. All of these characters are quite clever, but this is of particular relevance here on DisneyBricks for the group at the bottom left.

Missing person - HeatherLEGOgirl

If you're a regular reader of the variety of major LEGO blogs out there, you've already seen this, but I'm passing it along on the theory that at least some of my readers come from outside the hobbyist community. Heather Braaten, who you may know on various online forums as HeatherLEGOGirl, has been missing for the past week. She was last seen in Seattle, Washington. If you see Heather, or know anything of her whereabouts, please contact Lino Martins at linotopia AT hotmail DOT com , as he is in close touch with Heather's family, or directly contact the Seattle police department. Or use any of the contact information on the flyer below.

Visiting Disney

Constant Concepts made this great Disneyworld visitor. Wouldn't it be great if LEGO made an official mouse-ears hat piece?

Car Wars

Another category in the MOCathalon is 'Will it blend', challenging builders to mash-up two themes. Raphael Huesser puts together Sheriff with a Republic Cruiser to come up with Star Cars.

This isn't Raphael's first time swimming in these waters. He'd previously made Millenium McQueen:

Timekeeper

Okay, I have to admit that I loved the old Circle-Vision America the Beautiful. If you remember, this was the 1960 theater-in-the-round film where you stood in a big room surrounded by screens as you toured through the US. It's since been replace by more modern versions, but I did really enjoy this when I saw it as a kid. It predated IMAX and modern 3-D and other sorts of virtual visions. BTW, one time I followed a Google Maps Streetview car around the streets of DC, and I imagine that car mounted with cameras pointing every direction is the sort of thing they used to film America the Beautiful. So if you go to Google Maps and look at the street view of the area around George Washington University and see some guy in a white Honda waving at the camera over a three block stretch, that's probably me. Anyway, back to the blog, in 1992 Disney ran a Circle-Vision film called The Timekeeper (or the Visionarium) that featured an animatronic flying robot that was going around doing the filming. Here's Jordan Schwartz's version of that robot.

MOCathalon

It's time for the 2012 MOCathalon, an annual team contest on MOCpages with multiple categories. As always, there are a ton of great creations already. One of the categories is 'Fairy Tale', and builders are challenged to release their inner princess. These don't all tie directly to the Disney versions, but the creations are definitely worth a second look: Littlehaulic's Cinderella carriage, Annie Corder's Sleeping Beauty and Leda Kat's Snow White.

Disneyland

Alright, everyone sing along: It's a world of laughter, a world of tears, it's a world of hopes and a world of fears. There's so much that we share that it's time to be aware, it's a small world after all. [Louder!] It's a small world, after all! It's a small world, after all! It's a small world, after all. It's a small, small world! Okay, hopefully I got that stuck in your head for the rest of the day, as it has been in mine since looking at the SALUG Disneyland layout from 2006. Small World ride:

Oh, BTW, big LUG displays often have little humorous Easter eggs for people attending the display to find. For instance, go back again to the Small World section (and, c'mon, you know you can't go to Disneyland without riding that thing a couple of times) and look closely at the passengers in the boats.

Of course GoRiLLaWeR's EVE was meant to accompany the WALL*E he previously posted. Here's the happy couple.
